White and Blue sees Roos in right light
October 2010

When William Ross Architects were given the task of developing a new home for the North Melbourne Football club, they wanted the new buildings to make a statement.

Using Kingspan’s insulated architectural wall panels and cleverly placed blue lighting, William Ross Architects (WRA) dressed the clubhouse in the biggest Kangaroo’s jersey in the world.

WRA’s Stephen Maxwell says that the effect was created in combination with Kingspan’s silver and white mini-micro rib panels and blue lens lights.

“Working with Kingspan was easy. They provided a great hardcover technical handbook which provided comprehensive details. The team were quick to answer any questions we had,” Maxwell said.

Because of the particulars of the construction project, Kingspan consulted with WRA to determine which panel configuration best suited the job. Building specifications were sent to Kingspan’s head office and were promptly returned with product recommendations and full technical information.

WRA were confident of the performance of Kingspan’s panels as they exceed many of the Building Code of Australia specifications, particularly those on thermal-insulation.

“Kingspan panels are guaranteed to retain their thermal performance for the life of the product thereby helping to ensure that the building energy performance rating is maintained throughout the life of the building,” said Helen Flood, Kingspan’s marketing manager.

“With the CPRS scheme on hold, energy efficiency measures are becoming a higher priority on the Federal Government’s list of sustainability tools. With operational energy costs on the rise, building performance is now the key to lowering these costs and in turn reducing carbon emissions and global warming”.

A Kingspan representative was on site during the installation to ensure that everything went smoothly, and addressed any of the architects’, builders’ and installers’ concerns.

“William Ross are more than satisfied with the product we specified and how it’s been applied. We were keen to use the product and Kingspan were keen to help us,” Maxwell said.

“WRA recognise the great qualities of Kingspan products. Their results really shine, showing their commitment to great design and sustainability and our panels’ ability to meet that commitment”, Ms Flood said.
