Section J Building Code

The Building Code of Australia Section J regulation is a mandatory energy efficiency measure for non-residential construction. It was introduced in 2006 with the aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings. The incorporation of energy efficiency measures in the BCA is targeted towards energy efficiencies in new building constructions. The regulation has been reviewed and updated within the 2010 release of the BCA, increasing the stringency of energy efficiency requirements for all classes of commercial buildings by approximately a further 20%.
